Warkworth Drama Group: Habeas Corpus

Saucy, sexy and very funny.

Alan Bennett’s rollicking and raunchy comedy ‘Habeas Corpus’ is to be staged in May by Warkworth Drama Group.

Directed by Duncan Cooper and Meg Dixon, the play is a pacy and highly improbable romp which pokes fun at the at the ludicrous aspirant aristocracy of middle-class England.

Meg said “It is a satirical merry-go-round of antics at the Wicksteed home: family, friends and the sexual satisfaction of the ‘corpus’ (body} are the ruling passions in this farcical comedy of ill-manners and principal characters in various stages of undress.

“Through a series of mistaken identities and carnal encounters, one motto holds fast:’He whose lust lasts, lasts longest.’ ”

The play starts at 7.30 and runs for three nights on May 21, 22 and 23 at Warkworth Memorial Hall. Doors open at 7pm and a licensed bar will be available.Tickets are £10 and can be purchased at Warkworth Post Office and village store, N&F Young of Amble, and at the door.
